Saltwater, salt spray, sand, and grueling fights take a brutal toll on your fishing gear. Don't wait for a sticky drag, a corroded bearing, or a rough gear train to cost you the fish of a lifetime. At Tightlines Tackle Co., we provide expert, comprehensive reel maintenance and repair services to ensure your equipment performs flawlessly when the pressure is on.
Precision Care for Saltwater GearWhether you're trolling for giant bluefin tuna offshore, casting plugs for striped bass along the coast, or fly fishing the tidal flats, regular reel servicing is critical. Salt deposits and internal moisture cause oxidation, drag binding, and gear pitting that standard hose rinses simply can't fix. Our technicians completely tear down, clean, lubricate, and fine-tune your reels using factory OEM replacement parts and premium marine synthetic lubricants like Cal's Drag Grease and Yamalube Marine Grease. Every reel is completely stripped down to individual components. All internal gears, bearings, pawls, and housing bodies undergo an ultrasonic solvent bath to remove salt crystals, sludge, sand, and old broken-down grease.
Smooth drag pressure is the difference between landing a trophy fish and snapping off line. We inspect, degrease, and treat carbon fiber and felt washers. Upgrades to Carbontex or HT-100 carbon washers are available for maximum heat dissipation and drag performance.
Corroded or grinding bearings are replaced with high-grade ARB stainless steel bearings. Worn main and pinion gears are replaced with genuine OEM manufacturer components (Shimano, PENN, Daiwa, etc.).
Reels are reassembled with high-viscosity marine grease applied strategically to internal sideplates and gearing, with light corrosion-inhibiting oils applied to spool bearings for seamless free-spooling.
