The spreader bar rig made with 14 shell squid teasers and 1 trailing hook bait is the favorite of tuna fishermen. For giant bluefin tuna the 18 inch and 13 inch squid are preferred. Yellowfin tuna and school size bluefins respond better to the 9 inch and 11 inch squid. When trolling a spreader bar it is important to keep the bar out of the water as much as possible, especially when targeting yellowfins. Bluefin tuna are less spooked by the bar.
